Over 20 years ago, Benito Cabrera released “Concierto de Timple”, his first of 8 studio albums. His instrument of choice, the Timple, has been included in traditional Canarian music for centuries, and although Benito is influenced by this heritage, he is adventerous with his arrangements, introducing both classical and contemporary melodies and arrangements. His second album, “Timple y Orquesta”, featured the Tenerife Symphonic Orchestra, and still remains the only recording ever made of a Symphonic orchestra with the addition of the timple. His live tours and concerts are world renowned, with performances in Cuba, New York, Texas, Japan, Argentina, Berlin and many other countries. In 2009, Benito Cabrera released a compilation CD of his works over the previous 20 years, a true revelation of this maestro’s evolution, adaptation and integrity.
Born in La Laguna in 1984, at the age of twelve Beselch Rodriguez received his first Timple as a Christmas present from his grandfather, and by 1998 he was sharing the stage with many of the island's folkloric groups. In 2009, he debuted his first studio album, “In-Differente”, a radical fusion of traditional Canarian Island Timple styles, Bossa, Jazz and World influences. The album mainly consists of original compositions, and was co-produced by Beselch and Marco de Castillo, who also played guitar on this project, joined by Kiko Leon on Drums, Carlos Perdomo on Electric Bass, Sisi de Castillo on Percussion and Pablo Diaz on Flute. Having broken many traditional musical boundaries with critical acclamation, Beselch has recently found himself in the international spotlight, recently representing the Canary Islands in a major Cost Rican World Music Festival, though he still remains very active on the local festival scene.
